Red Alert in Mumbai and the surrounding cities

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted severe rainfall of around 500mm in the next 84 hours along with gusty winds, that can reach upto 65 kmph. These weather condition will cause traffic disruption and water-logging at many places. Considering this situation, schools and colleges are closed. Mumbai university has also postponed the exams. All the educational institutes in the nearby areas have been closed.

Bad weather condition since Monday has already slowed down the traffic at many parts of the city. Trains are also getting delayed. Poor visibility has also impacted flights. BMC has deployed teams at the flood-prone areas with all the essential equipments and machinery to handle any kind of situation.

Residents are being suggested to stay at home unless it is very urgent. Civic helpline humber 1916 has been activated to help the citizens in case of any emergency.

Amidst this weather condition, rest of the cities like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh are also on yellow alert.
